The space

Villa Thalia is an excellent choice for spending your holidays in this amazing historical location in the Peloponnese among a large number of picturesque landscapes, archaeological sites of vast historical and cultural importance and wonderful beaches and coves. The way the villa is designed, and the prospect of it being able to offer two independent living spaces makes it ideally suitable for a big family or friends who wish to enjoy holidays together in this unique Mediterranean landscape. Villa Thalia offers direct and uninterrupted views from its interior as well as the exterior spaces.

The villa itself is a massive and has six bedrooms, two large living rooms each with its own fireplace, two fully equipped kitchens and 3 bathrooms for your convenience. The villa also has very large verandas offering direct and uninterrupted views across the sea, the Saronic gulf and nearby islands of Aegina, Aegistri, Kyra, Doula and Methana. To top it all up, a bbq is available in case you want to grill some of the elite quality fresh fish and meat this area is world-renowned for!

You will have full and exclusive access to all areas of this Epidaurus villa, the swimming pool and the large garden surrounding it.

We are available to assist guests with whatever they may need, by phone at any time. However, we also really value our guests’ privacy and will always be off site, discrete yet fully available on your request. We can make suggestions for visiting sites, monuments, shopping choices and areas, travelling routes, highly esteemed wining and dining locations and those well-respected and valued destinations that locals cherish and prefer. On request, staff can be arranged to assist you throughout your stay.

Whereabouts

Villa Thalia is situated in a unique and picturesque Pelloponesian landscape, on land inhabited for millenia, where the Ancient Greeks conceived some of the world’s most innovative concepts and ideas and where theatre and the arts flourished thousands of years ago. The area has a unique historical and cultural heritage of worldwide significance. Its convenient location makes it ideal for access to various archaeological monuments, museums, sites of vast historical importance.

Only a 20 minute drive from Villa Thalia sits the world renowned Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus – recognised as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO and site of the greatest therapeutic centre in antiquity, the Asclepeion, dedicated to the god Asclepius. The contemporary Festival of Epidaurus takes place here every summer with various different events organised and Ancient Greek plays performed under the Pelloponesian blue sky on the same site where historical figures like Euripides, Aeschylus, Plato Socrates and Aristotle laid the basis for the theatre, arts, poetry, tragedy and many foundational elements of Western Civilisation.

Nearby cities like the historical city of Nafplion – the first capital of Greece in contemporary Greek history which has been preserved almost as it was two centuries ago, can be easily reached as well as many picturesque traditional villages and scenic beaches, the uniquely architecturally preserved islands of Spetses, Poros and Hydra, with their exceptional character, the Ancient Acropolis, the Cyclopean Walls and Palace of Mycenae as well as the world renowned Archaeological Museum of Mycenae, on a region inhabited from the early neolithic age which flourished almost 4000 years ago, and much more.

On a local level, the villa offers full privacy, serenity and peace, while also being in close proximity to shops and local amenities. The blue sea and nearby beaches are superb and easy to access. A traditional Greek vegetable garden, or ‘perivoli’, is located in the garden of the villa.

Getting around

A car is recommended to enjoy all that Villa Thalia, Epidaurus and the surrounding area have to offer. Commuting to Athens or other destinations is possible as the train and bus stations are a short drive away. A driver can then be provided on a daily or ad hoc basis upon arrangement. Other things to note

• We would kindly ask that you respect the neighbours at all times. We urge your attention to the following ‘quiet hours’ enforced by law. During the following hours there should be no disturbing or excessive noise; coming from the villa or its surrounding plot of land:
  • Summer quiet hours (Apr.1-Sep30): 3PM-5.30PM & 11PM-7AM
  • Winter quiet hours (Oct.1-Mar.31): 3.30PM-5.30PM & 10PM-7.30AM
• Upon arrival guests must display a valid form of identification (ID or passport). Also a short-term rental agreement has to be signed as required by current Greek law under the Greek taxation system. Guests will not be able to check in if this requirement is not satisfied.
• Utilising the finest materials, this villa has been refurbished and interior designed with care. We expect you to respect the villa accordingly. Any damages will incur the relevant charges. In case these are not covered by the deposit held, additional charges will be claimed.
• A range of services can also be arranged on request: Daily cooking staff, assistance regarding use of the facilities, Transportation & Chauffeur Services, Boat Charters and Trips and other Tailor Made Services. Please just ask.
