Paros Island in Greece is an essential destination when exploring the Greek Cyclades. This remarkable island offers a diverse range of attractions, including stunning coastal villages, charming mountain villages, and much more. However, choosing the perfect place to stay in Paros Greece might be a challenge. But don’t fret! I’m here to assist you with this comprehensive guide to Paros Island. Below, I present the most beautiful villages to stay in and explore during your visit to Paros Greece!
I have divided this article into three sections, focusing on the renowned port towns, seaside villages, and mountain villages of Paros. Guests highly recommend and widely favor the two main towns, Parikia and Naousa, when it comes to choosing a place to stay.
If you opt to stay in either of these towns, getting around is convenient as you can easily rent a vehicle or use the local bus service to explore other destinations. However, it’s important to note that you don’t have to confine yourself solely to these towns!
Several of the coastal villages I mention in this travel guide also serve as charming fishing villages, providing a unique and memorable experience. Additionally, the mountain villages offer a peaceful retreat from the bustling beautiful villages on Paros Island in Greece. No matter which option you decide to go for, I sincerely hope you’ll see that Paros has something to offer for every type of traveler.
Main Villages of Paros Island in Greece
Parikia

Parikia, the capital and main port of Paros, is a lively town with fantastic waterfront restaurants and bars. Its old town features a 13th-century Frankish castle and charming whitewashed streets reminiscent of Santorini and Mykonos. Staying in Parikia has many advantages: it offers easy vehicle rentals for island exploration, has a nearby bus station, and within walking distance, beautiful beaches surround it.
Tip: Casa Orpheus is a wonderful summer home available just on the outskirts of the town.
Naoussa

Naoussa is the ideal coastal town to explore if you’re not staying in Parikia. It offers a lively atmosphere with upscale restaurants, charming boutiques, and lovely cafes. You’ll also discover a 15th-century castle that played a vital role in defending Paros from pirates. Like Parikia, Naoussa provides ample opportunities for a refreshing swim nearby.
Moreover, Naoussa serves as a perfect base for exploring the beaches and small villages in the northern part of Paros, Greece.
Tip: If you wish to stay in Naoussa, consider Casa Olga. It’s just a 7 minute walk to the Old Venetian Harbour.

Aliki

A tempting array of restaurants, catering to various budgets, adorns Aliki’s harbor, making it an excellent option for a peaceful and quiet stay in Paros.
Despite its growing popularity, Aliki has managed to retain its traditional ambiance. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Cycladic Folklore Museum, located near the port, for a glimpse into the region’s history.
Tip: just 2 km from Aliki there is a great selection of luxurious private villas available for rent. Villa Kalia and Villa Agnes are just a couple of the available choices in the area.
Drios

Drios, situated in the southeastern part of Paros, is a place that might feel like a dream come true. This charming seaside village is a hidden gem with a beach adorned with vibrant pebbles, and a handful of local restaurants that offer breathtaking ocean views.
What makes Drios even more special is that several of these restaurants have their own farms, producing their own agriculture and livestock. It’s a true farm-to-table experience! Additionally, within walking distance, you’ll find the renowned Golden Beach (Chrissi Akti), where the World Windsurfing Championships take place.
Tip: Villa Malina is a one of the most popular private villas available for rent on the island.
Piso Livadi

Located approximately 6 km north of Drios, you’ll discover the charming fishing port of Piso Livadi. This area is renowned for its delectable Greek cuisine, with numerous restaurants perched over the water. Travellers adore the atmosphere in Piso Livadi and often find themselves there for sunset drinks.
From this quaint port, you can embark on day trips to explore the smaller Cycladic islands. Moreover, there are several beautiful beaches surrounding the town that are easily accessible on foot and perfect for leisurely enjoyment. Just above Piso Livadi lies one of my beloved mountain towns, which I will share details about shortly!
Tip: Villa Artemis is just a 2km from this beautiful village in Paros Greece.
Mountain Villages of Paros Island
Lefkes
If you haven’t already heard, the must-visit mountain village in Paros is called Lefkes! This ancient capital of the island boasts numerous local cafes and restaurants, offering a delightful culinary experience.
The main street, Ramnos, gracefully leads into the old town adorned with whitewashed buildings. You can easily lose yourself in the labyrinthine alleys, explore the shops, and savor a refreshing freddo espresso amidst the vibrant architecture.
Moreover, Lefkes serves as the starting point for a legendary Byzantine walking path that leads to another stunning mountain village. Spanning 3.5 km in length, this historic trail holds over 1,000 years of captivating history.
Marpissa

Among the numerous breathtaking mountain villages in Paros, Marpissa is one of my favourite. With its origins tracing back to the 16th century, this village’s narrow stone pathways transport you to the traditional Cycladic era.
Make sure to indulge in a delightful dinner at the hidden gem tavern, Haroula, and don’t miss the opportunity to hike up to the Agios Antonis Monastery, offering panoramic views. Despite its mountainous location, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that Piso Livadi beach is just a 20-minute walk away.
Tip: Casa Marpissa is one the fantastic accommodation options in the village.
Prodromos and Marmara

Another area awaits exploration between the two aforementioned mountain villages. Situated across from each other, Prodromos and Marmara are two small villages that offer a unique experience. As mentioned earlier, the Byzantine walking path that starts from Lefkes concludes in Prodromos.
The historic churches and the traditional ambiance of this area will mesmerize you. It truly showcases the diverse range of places to stay and visit on Paros Island.
Keep in mind that accommodations are limited in these mountain villages. However, if you have a vehicle, it’s easy to include Prodromos and Marmara as part of a day trip to explore their beauty.
Kostos

During your journey from Parikia to Lefkes, be sure to take a long break in the village of Kostos. Nestled amidst nature and situated below the quarries of Paros, this village offers a breathtaking “balcony” view of the Aegean Sea, Molos beach, and Naxos.
Kostos is a small, picturesque, and tranquil village characterized by its all-white houses, whitewashed alleyways, and charming cafes. It exudes beauty and features two noteworthy churches in its center: the stone-built church of Agia Marina and the 17th-century church of Agios Panteleimon, the patron saint of the village. The latter is located near a delightful little grove and is definitely worth a visit.
Tip: Breathtaking views can be enjoyed from the secluded Villa Cella in Kostos
Let's not forget Antiparos

After exploring the remarkably beautiful villages of Paros Island in Greece, there is one more destination you shouldn’t miss! Are you aware that there is a small neighboring island called Antiparos? It’s just a short ferry ride away and offers a multitude of hiking trails and beautiful beaches waiting to be discovered.
The charming main street in Antiparos town will surprise you! It is a vibrant stretch filled with boutique shops, bars, and restaurants. The street culminates at the ruins of a 15th-century Venetian castle, enhancing the allure of Paros’s neighboring island.
Few are those who do not adore Antiparos. So I would highly recommend spending a few days there if you have the opportunity. However, it’s also convenient to plan a day trip from Paros in Greece. Additionally, you can opt for a boat tour that takes you to the best swimming spots around Antiparos. Let me know if you need any help with this by pressing here.
